Voice & refuge

Public address voice alarms

Veriserv public address voice alarm systems can be integrated to your fire detection systems to assist in controlled evacuations.

These signals are in the form of a clear pre-recorded broadcast with necessary procedures or instructions to enable the safe and orderly evacuation either from affected areas or the whole building.

As an essential part of fire evacuation, these messages must be received clearly and quickly as there may be untrained personnel or visitors onsite, our systems include language options for multi-national workforces. Veriserv's range of PA / VA systems also offer additional functions such as background music for public areas or general paging for staff.

As BAFE approved fire systems installers recognised by NSI ( National Security Inspectorate ), formerly known as NACOSS, Veriserv apply the same rigorous standards for the installation of PA/VA systems.

Emergency voice evacuation systems

In an emergency voice evacuation systems enable the safe and orderly evacuation of people either from premises or affected areas.

Safety warnings, voice evacuation notices and public address broadcast for incidents including fire and bomb alert situations are becoming common safety and risk management requirements. Voice alarm and voice evacuation systems designed to be compliant with "BS5839-8:1998 Fire Detection & Alarm Systems for Buildings" are also now common place requirements by local authority Fire Officers.

We design, supply and install a full range of public address systems incorporating voice alarm, alert & evacuation systems. The effective evacuation of staff and customers is an essential process.

We provide specially designed voice evacuation systems which enable this to be carried out quickly and effectively using high quality pre-recorded digital messages containing programmable evacuate and alert messages. Disabled refuge installation & maintenance

Disabled refuge systems are required in many buildings and are used by the emergency services to contact those in the refuge areas during an emergency.

This type of intercom system allows emergency services to be in constant contact with the people in the refuge areas who seek assistance. The Disability Discrimination Act made it the responsibility of all companies, nationwide, to ensure that access to buildings and services is available to everyone – there must be no discrimination.

With access provided for all, provision must be made for safe evacuation in the event of an emergency. In some circumstances, those with physical impairments can be assisted by others - but in many situations this is not suitable or safe.

A solution comes in the form of temporary areas of safety - ‘refuge areas’. The person in need of assistance is helped to the closest refuge area and awaits safe evacuation. Refuge areas must meet certain criteria, these are covered in BS9999:2008. As well as describing suitable areas for refuge and the type of construction, the Standard specifies the need for two way communication.

An EVC (emergency voice communication) or Disabled Refuge System allows firefighters and others to communicate with one another during emergency situations. The system also allows communication with disabled persons. It is a "system that allows voice communication in either direction between a central control point and a number of other points throughout a building or building complex, particularly under the direction of management of firefighters." (BS5839-9:2003 3.3).

We design, install and commission Disabled Refuge, Emergency Telephone, Disabled Toilet Alarm systems to various organisations and businesses alike, all complying to current regulations, providing you with total piece of mind.
